According to the Marine Corps Hymn, there are those who fight our country's battles on land and sea from Tripoli's shores to Montezuma's Halls. Not to be confused with Tripoli Lebanon, these are those shores.
It's ancient - founded in the 7th century BC by the Phoenicians.
Located right on the seashore, it's been an important port since its beginnings and continues to be so today. The Mediterranean climate makes it a pleasant spot for a bit of tourism.
HELLO with the sunset! And I have to admit that I LOVE those weeds growing there (I'm hoping that mine will sprout when the snow melts - ha ha ha ha ha waaaaahhhh). But Libya may not be the best place to vacation right now...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, but I do have to say, there is no such thing as "The Marine Corps Hymn". It is called, "The Marine's Hymn". The Marine Corps itself, as an institution, has no hymn. The song is for, and belongs to, its members: Marines.

Interesting fact: According to what I've heard, no one knows who wrote it. Weird, eh? I should probably do some research on that. They say a lot of crap in boot camp that sounds suspect. :)
